Data representation

This map combines a curated CSV of globally famous UAP/UFO events with an official-release media dataset derived from war.gov/UFO records. The war.gov/UFO records often name broad places, theaters, or regions rather than event-grade coordinates. Mapped points therefore use place names and broad geographic placement suitable for global exploration.

The map is an archive-exploration interface, not a claim verifier. Popups preserve short source descriptions and provide links back to source material wherever available.

Sources and attributable items

• Boundary geometry is loaded from the open World Atlas TopoJSON package derived from Natural Earth.
• Map interface uses D3.js, TopoJSON Client, and D3 Geo Projection.
• Runtime media thumbnails remain hosted by the original source URLs named in the CSV. Rights and license details remain with those source pages; Wikimedia Commons files carry their own file-page licenses, while U.S. government/DVIDS material should be checked on the linked record page for any marking or credit requirement.
